In 2021, I joined an MLP community called Dust Car, which challenged everyone to make new music every two weeks, and then everyone sat down to listen to all the tracks on Discord. This completely transformed my time in the fandom! For the first time in the ~7 years I had been making music, I had a group of musician friends that listened to my stuff, celebrated it, and encouraged me to make more (even if my music wasn't that good). By the end of the year, I had made more pony music in those 6 months than ever before, I started improving at my craft, and I was actually getting to meet up with my new friends at conventions and even in my home town! At Trot 2021, after an amazing weekend of hanging out w/ everyone, I was inspired and started writing this song, based on my own experiences but also connecting it to Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail from the show. Two days later, the Dust Car community tore itself apart in an awful schism. The group never came back together... these days I hang out in a similar community called Busty's.
Drama aside, it's that community of individuals, the people who come together to support each other, celebrate our accomplishments, and inspire us to improve, that really made 2021-2022 the most special year yet for me in this fandom. For me it was the Busty crowd, for you it may be a different group entirely. But whoever it is, you know that you'll fly further together!
